Youth and Children’s Ministry Coordinator

In recent years the Christian Church in Arizona has employed a Youth and Children’s Ministry Coordinator. This person worked closely with Regional staff in coordinating Regional youth and children’s retreats, camps, and the Youth and Children’s Ministry Team (YCMT). Most recently this position was held be Rev. Katie Sexton (Senior Minister at Coolwater Christian Church). We give thanks for Rev. Katie Sexton and the ministries of those before her in caring for the faith formation of the youth and children of the Arizona Region.

Regional Youth and Children’s Minister

Through an opportunity with the Creative Ministry Fund, a fund created with a generous legacy gift by Beryl Meritt, the Youth and Children’s Ministry Coordinator position has been expanded and enhanced as the Regional Youth and Children’s Minister. This minister will be called for a twenty month period in which they will continue to be responsible for retreat and camp programing, but will also now work to provide resources and support to local church youth ministries within the region.

Will we still have a Youth and Children's Ministry Coordinator?

As of August 1, 2018 we will no longer have a Youth and Children’s Ministry Coordinator. These responsibilities will be assumed by the Regional Youth and Children’s Minister. Rev. Katie Sexton will complete her time in this position as of August 1, 2018.

How will this change impact camp and retreats?

The intent of this position is to expand and enhance the current Youth and Children’s Ministry programs in Arizona. As the new Regional Youth and Children’s Minister begins to meet and work with the Youth and Children’s Ministry Team, Youth Council, congregations, and Regional Staff, we hope that Youth and Children’s Ministry in the Region will have the opportunity to explore and work towards ministry that is relevant and effective for our time and places.
