All clergy are invited to join Rev. Dr. Todd A. Adams, President and CEO of Pension Fund of the Christian Church for lunch and conversation on challenges facing clergy today and how Pension Fund is repositioning Ministerial Relief and Assistance to help meet those challenges. In 2020, Ministerial Relief and Assistance will celebrate the first gift to Rhoda Jane Castle Chase i, widow of Rev. Ira Chase and our roots as the Board of Ministerial Relief and Assistance. In 125 years, the needs have changed, and we want to work with you to help bridge the road to financial wellness, through revamped programs that seek to meet today’s needs of clergy, as well as our traditional retirement programs.
Rev. Dr. Todd A. Adams, President and CEO of Pension Fund of the Christian Church for a conversation on Congregational Governance and best practices, including a section on the sacred theology of financial best practices. Dr. Adams is a certified governance trainer for Board Source, the leading consulting organization on non-profit governance in the United States. Dr. Adams will talk about best practices, how we can meet less often with more meaning, and creative ways to lead the church today. When Todd was the Senior Minister of Memorial Drive Christian Church in Houston, the congregation grew from 120 in worship to 330 in worship, while shrinking the board from 85 to 24 and moving from 14 committees to 5 ministry teams.

On July 9, 2018, the Southwest Conference of the United Church of Christ and some of our Regional Staff gathered to rekindle a few past conversations. Amid a few challenges, increasing camping costs and fewer donated resources for the same. We, both are determined and resolute to continue providing sacred and natural spaces for our treasured ones’ faith and formation. We are not only willing to re-imagine our camp programs. But, also, bring a re-emphasis toward our youth and children’s faith formation.
“It only takes a spark to get a fire going.” Together, we dreamed and re-imagined…
Church Creative Mission and Ministry grant applications are now being received!
These grants seek to help Arizona Disciples churches fund transformation processes and ventures that engage the congregation’s surrounding communities to address poverty and/or systemic injustice.

On May 21, 2017, First Christian Church, Glendale gathered and voted to cease its visible ministry in the Fall of 2017. The congregation named our region (Christian Church in Arizona) as its successor (minutes on file), and empowered its Chair of Trustees, to negotiate its final desires. Our office has been able to walk along side, and care for the leadership and congregation beyond its last celebrated worship service on October 15, 2017.
